Two-day programme brings together young storytellers, journalists, and digital creators to strengthen climate information integrity.

The Fake News Fighters Bootcamp has officially kicked off in Harare, bringing together young storytellers, journalists, and digital creators to strengthen information integrity around climate issues and build creative responses to climate disinformation affecting communities across the region. Convened in Zimbabwe as part of the Fake News Fighters initiative under the Climate x Indigenous Voices Project by Magamba Network, the bootcamp is taking place at Moto Republik from 15 to 16 April 2026.

Moto Republik is hosting the Zimbabwe bootcamp as one of the regional hubs supported by Magamba Network. Over the two days, the programme is creating space for dialogue on emerging climate narratives, collaborative storytelling, and strategies for amplifying Indigenous and frontline community voices in the digital information space. The bootcamp is also drawing on UKWELI – The Africa Climate Disinformation Toolkit to support practical learning around climate misinformation and disinformation.

Climate x Indigenous Voices is part of the broader project, “Amplifying Indigenous Activists’ Voices: Countering Climate Disinformation,” launched under the Digital Democracy Initiative and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, with co-funding from the European Commission and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project is implemented by a consortium that includes International Media Support, Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact, International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs, and Magamba Network, and spans 13 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Fake News Fighters Bootcamp in Zimbabwe forms part of this wider effort to strengthen climate information integrity and support more grounded, creative, and community-led responses to climate disinformation.
